With your mind set on your next summer holidays, is Chiclana de la Frontera your chosen destination for the summer period? Whether you have already decided or not, this guide to Playa de
la barrosa will be great for you to know how to move around freely once you get there.
la barrosa beach is one of the most famous beaches in the province of Cadiz and is characterised by its more than 8 kilometres in length, stretching from the cliffs of Sancti Petri to what is known as Loma del Puerco, where the town borders neighbouring Conil. We'll take a closer look at all this in this guide, which contains the most basic information you'll need to know to get around Playa de
la barrosa. And if you still haven't decided where to spend your stay in Chiclana de la Frontera, remember that you can ask for information about our flat located in the
Laja Bermeja Urbanization, an accommodation on the First Slope of the Barrosa Beach. You can't miss our views!
Playa de la Barrosa: Where is the best location for your holiday?
As we have already told you at the beginning, Playa de la Barrosa has a vast longitudinal extension, reaching more than 8 kilometres of a spectacular beach of fine golden sand that is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. For this reason, it is normal that the area is delimited in what are known as tracks. Thus, we will find the so-called First Slope, Second Slope and Third Slope.
Choosing one or the other will depend a lot on what you are looking for, and if you want to eat in front of the beach, enjoy the promenade and buy something from the craft markets, the first track is your best option. The first track of the Barrosa beach is the one that goes from the cliffs of Sancti Petri to the Red Cross post, a path that you can walk along the promenade enjoying the cooler temperatures that surprise us at nightfall.
Undoubtedly, this is the most urbanised part of the beach, as is the area commonly known as the Segunda Pista, which starts at the Cruz Roja and extends to the area of the Pinar Público de la Barrosa, with areas in between that are highly
differentiated by the locals, such as the Complejo Atlántico.
La Tercera Pista is also known as the area of the hotels or Loma del Puerco, less urbanised, surrounded by pine forests, vegetation and dunes that will make you realise that you have made a very good choice when choosing Chiclana as a holiday destination.
Therefore, if you are looking for a quiet place, with greenery and enough space to avoid having the people in the next parasol next to you, the third court is your recommended choice. However, if you are more into visiting establishments, nights on the promenade and enjoying all kinds of leisure and free time services, the First Pista is waiting for you. This is where the
Laja Bermeja Urbanisation is located, your holiday resort. If they don't beat you to it!

La Barrosa, a beach with quality certification
La Barrosa beach, as it does every year, strives not to lower the quality of its coastline and its efforts have been recognised once again in 2022 by receiving the different distinctions that accredit it as a beach of environmental and tourist quality.
Undoubtedly, the most recognised award is the Blue Flag and in this respect we have to point out that La Barrosa beach has been receiving this award since 1988. It is a recognition of environmental quality that was developed by FEE. To obtain it you have to meet a series of criteria, which are grouped into 4 distinct areas: water quality for bathing; environmental information and education; environmental management and safety; and its services and facilities.
For the year 2022, La Barrosa beach has not only received this recognition, but has also been awarded the Ecoplayas flag, a distinction that recognises those municipalities that stand out in terms of the quality of their beaches from a tourism, sustainability and environmental point of view. This is displayed on the town's promenade alongside the ISO 14001 Certification flag, another prize awarded by the company OCA, which recognises the implementation of an environmental management system governed by the UNE-EN ISO 1400 standard.
On the other hand, La Barrosa beach also has the Q flag for Tourism Quality awarded by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality, endorsed by the Secretary of State for Tourism and the Autonomous Communities. The last of the flags that you can see flying on La Barrosa beach is the Safe Tourism Certified flag, which certifies safe tourism and was awarded in 2021.
